GIRLS SOFTBALL

The West Norriton Girls’ softball program is heading into its 3rd season at our new softball complex at Centennial Park.  We currently have two beautiful softball fields where the girls play.  The fields are located below the current home of West Norriton Little League at the intersection of Burnside and West Marshall Street.  We are continuously making improvements to the complex as seen in the addition of two state of the art scoreboards.

Our primary goal this and every season is to provide an opportunity for girls at all levels of athletic ability to play and enjoy the game in a safe and fun environment with an emphasis on skill development and sportsmanship.  Our leagues are progressively growing and changing.  Along with our 7-9 and 10-13 divisions, we have added a 16 & Under team which competed locally in the area.  We are looking forward to another great season and expanding each division.  We encourage you to sign up early and get involved.

As our softball program continues its development, modifications are being made. New this year, a mandatory grading session was held on Sunday, February 21, 2010 at Norristown Area High School.  Exact times and starting dates will be handed out at the time of registration.  

REGISTRATIONS ARE NOW BEING ACCEPTED

Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. at the Township Building.  Forms may also be printed out online at www.westnorritontwp.org and mailed in to the Township Building.  Deadline to register is April 1, 2010 .  The program will begin in early April.  Coaches/Volunteers needed!  Age determined as of 4/1/10.

$50.00 (resident) per child

$60.00 (non – resident) per child

7-9 year olds will practice and play on Monday and Wednesday nights.

10-13 year olds will practice and play on Tuesday and Thursday nights.

16 & UNDER GIRLS SOFTBALL

We are currently entering our 2nd season of our 16 & Under softball program.  This program is for players who demonstrate a strong desire and ability to play the game at a higher level of competition.  Currently, teams play games and tournaments locally.  As the program continues to grow and the level of play continues to rise, our teams will earn an opportunity to travel more widely.  We want to build on our opening season and make it an even better one than the last.

Registrations are currently being taken Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. at the Township Building.  Deadline – April 1, 2010 .  The program will begin early April.  Exact starting dates will be handed out at the time of registration.  Forms may also be printed out online at www.westnorritontwp.org and mailed in.  Coaches/Volunteers needed!  Age determined as of 4/1/09.

CO-ED SOFTBALL

The league is open to West Norriton residents as well as non- resident adults. The games are played on Sunday afternoons at Oakland Padden Park and surrounding fields. Registration will be taken until March 15, 2010 on a team basis only.

GOLF CLINICS

WEST NORRITON LITTLE LEAGUE (WNLL)

SPRING PREVIEW

West Norriton Little League's 59th season will begin on April 3, 2010 with Opening Day ceremonies scheduled for April 17.  Players taht are at least 5 years of age and at most 16 years of age by April 30 are encouraged to register for WNLL Tee Ball, Farm, Minor, Major, Junior and Senior Leagues at WNLL.com.  After registering, players will be assigned to teams and subsequently contacted by their coaches regarding practice and game schedules.  Please sontact John Wineburg, WNLL's Player Agent, at jvw0506@yahoo.com with registration questions and visit WNLL.com for complete league information.

JEFFERSONVILLE SOCCER CLUB 2010

Jeffersonville Soccer Club is a select travel soccer club that has been in our area since 1990. We are members of the Inter-County Soccer League, which has grown to be the largest travel soccer league in Southeastern Pennsylvania. Jeffersonville Soccer Club is looking for skilled players between the ages of 7 and 17 that are willing to be committed to our select, travel organization. West Norriton Adult Men’s League (Registration on a team basis only).

Registration begins April 1, 2010. Deadline to enter a team is May 14, 2010.  Games are played outdoors, under the lights at the Jefferson Firehouse courts. Play begins first week in June.

Cost: $650 per team.

DRAMA CAMP

Boys and Girls Ages 7-13

Camp Horizon supported by the West Norriton Township Recreation Department.

Become an actor and stretch your imagination at Camp Horizon’s one – week creative drama camp.  Emphasizing creativity, communication, and teamwork, Camp Horizon’s experienced and supportive teachers will guide participants through energizing theater games like improvisation and storytelling, and fun crafts like costumes, prop and set design.  Participants will use their voices, bodies, and imagination to write and perform their own show based on a popular story or theme of their own choosing.  The group will present a final performance in costume for family and friends.

Dates and Times:

          Week 1: Monday, August 2, 2010 – Friday, August 6, 2010, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.

          Week 2: Monday, August 9, 2010 – Friday, August 13, 2010, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.

SUMMER TENNIS CLINICS/CAMPS

JoinFirstServeTennisAcademy this year for top-notch INSTRUCTION, DRILLS and GAMES in West Norriton. FSTA provides instruction for all levels of youth players ages 3-13 in a FUN and SUPPORTIVE atmosphere. Young athletes receive individual attention due to low student-to-teacher ratios, and a variety of drills and games are utilized in order to keep the game fresh. Forehands, backhands, serves, volleys, spins, scoring and strategy are covered in age- and skill-appropriate manners. Campers should bring a racket, although we will provide Kiddie rackets for those who do not own them.

Weekly spring clinics will be held Saturdays, Mondays and Tuesdays beginning April 17th, 19th and 20th. Four-day summer camps will be held in June, July and August (call for more info). Summer campers will receive a T-Shirt and end-of-camp merit award.  All clinics and camps will be held at the tennis courts located behind the Jefferson Fire House.

WEST NORRITON SUMMER DAY CAMP

Boys and Girls ages 5 to 13

(Must be 5 years old by June 1st, 2010)

Camp will run 6 weeks from Monday, June 21, to Friday, July 30, 2009. Our Summer Day Camp Program’s daily hours will be 8:45 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. – Monday through Friday.

Location: Whitehall Elementary School

Among the various activities offered will be Arts & Crafts, daily sports activities, special guest appearances/presentations and day trips, such as movies, bowling, roller skating, the theatre (children’s plays) and Mermaid Lake.

Cost: Resident 1 child $225.00. 2 children $400.00.  Family of 3 or more $575.00  

Non Resident 1 child         $325.00.  2 children $600.00. Family of 3 or more $850.00
