WEST NORRITON GIRLS SOFTBALL  (7-16 years old)

The West Norriton Girls' softball program is heading into its 2nd season at the new softball complex at Centennial Park.  As most of you know, we have two beautiful softball fields where the girls play.  The fields are located below the current home of West Norriton Little League at the intersection of Burnside Avenue and West Marshall St.  We are extremely excited about the new facility and are continuously making improvements to the complex.

Our primary goals this and every season are education, skill development, participation for players at all levels of athletic ability, and to ensure that all the girls have FUN. Last season we had over one hundred girls participate in two age divisions and this year we expect the turnout to be even better.

We are also adding a third division to the program this year.  Along with our 7-9 and 10-13 divisions, a 16 & under travel team will be assembled to compete against local area teams.  We are hoping for a bigger and better season in 2009.  We encourage you to sign up early and get involved.  See you on the field!

7-9 year olds will practice and play on Monday and Wednesday nights.

10-13 year olds will practice and play on Tueday and Thursday nights.

REGISTRATIONS ARE BEING ACCEPTED NOW

Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. at the Township Building.  Forms may also be printed out online and mailed in the Township Building.  The program will begin in early April.  Exact starting dates will be handed out a the time of registration.  Coaches/Volunteers needed!

16 & UNDER GIRLS SOFTBALL

Due to popular demand we have added a 16 & under age group.  This group will participate in competing against other local area teams.  Games and practices will be held at the Burnside/Oakland Park softball field, the previously mentioned Centennial Park complex at Burnside and W. Marshall Street and other local area fields.  Any and all travel will be within our local area.

Registrations are currently being taken Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m at the Township Building.  Deadline - March 13, 2009.  The program will begin in early April.  Exact starting dates will be handed out at the time of registration.  Forms may also be printed out and mailed in.  Coaches/Volunteers needed!  Age determined as of 4/1/09.  $60.00 per child.

CO-ED SOFTBALL

The league is open to West Norriton residents as well as non-resident adults.  The games are played on Sunday afternoons at Oakland Padden Park and surrounding fields.  Registration will be taken until March 15, 2009 on a team basis only.

KARATE

West Norriton residents ages 6-15 and adult lessons.  Raymond Capistrano will be instructing.  Karate is held on Wednesday evenings at Marshall Street Elementary School.  Registration is ongoing.   Cost is $5.00/session for children, $10.00 for adults.  Times are as follows:

Children - 6:30 - 7:30 p.m.

Adults - 7:30 - 8:30 p.m.

WEST NORRITON LITTLE LEAGUE (WNLL)

SPRING PREVIEW

West Norriton Little League's 58th season will begin on April 4, 2009 with Opening Day ceremonies scheduled for April 18.  Players that are at least 5 years of age and at most 16 years of age by April 30 are encouraged to register for WNLL Tee Ball, Farm, Minor, Major, Junior and Senior Leagues at WNLL.com.  After registering , players will be assigned to teams and subsequently contacted by their coaches regarding practice and game schedules.  Please contact John Wineburg, WNLL's Player Agent, at jvw0506@yahoo.com with registration questions and visit WNLL.com for complete league information.

West Norrtion Little League's Tee Ball program serves as a great opportunity to introduce your child to organized baseball and will be played Saturday mornings beginning in April.

NORRISTOWN AREA YOUTH LACROSSE ASSOC.

BIKE INSPECTIONS

All bicycle owners in West Norriton Township. 

Bike inspections take place at the West Norriton Police Station, 1630 W. Marshall Street, Wednesdays between the hours of 9:00 a.. and 4:00 p.m.

*If you ahd your bike registered and inspected in previous years, it won't be necessary again this year.*

SILVER CIRCLE (55+ CLUB)

Gathering Wednesday, September 16, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. and every third Wednesday of the month thereafter at the Jeffersonville Golf Course Club House.  Silver Circle starts in September and lasts until June.  For more information call Karen Schultz at 610-630-8435.

Intramural Soccer will take place at the Norristown Area High School Soccer Fields Saturday mornings beginning in early September. 

4-6 Year Olds - 9 a.m.

7-9 Year Olds - 10 a.m.

10-13 Year Olds - 11 a.m.

ULTIMATE SUMMER SOCCER CAMP

Camp held at Norristown Area High School.  Ultimate Summer Soccer Camp would like to invite you to an extraordinary summer soccer clinic, run by the Jeffersonville Soccer Club Men's Division.  Our camp runs the first week of August in the evenings from 5:30 - 7:30 and each player receives a shirt and ball.  We'd like to welcome all those who are interested in the West Norriton, East Noriton, Norristown and surrounding communities, ages 7-18 to join us for a week full of learning and fun!  Visit www.jeffersonvillesoccerclub.com for fees and registration forms.

DRAMA CAMP

Camp Horizon supported by the West Norriton Recreation Department.

Become an actor and stretch your imagination at Camp Horizon's one-week creative drama camp.  Emphasizing creativity, communication, and teamwork.  Camp Horizon's experience and supportive teachers will guide participants through energizing theater games like improvisation and storytelling, and fun crafts like costumes, prop and set design.  Participants will use their show based on a popular story or theme of their own choosing.  The group will present a final performance in costume for family and friends.

SUMMER TENNIS CLINICS/CAMPS

FIRST SERVE TENNIS ACADEMY

Join First Serve Tennis Academy this year for top-notch INSTRUCTION, DRILLS and GAMES in West Norriton.  FSTA provides instruction for all levels of youth players ages 3-13 in a FUN and SUPPORTIVE atmosphere.  Young athletes receive individual attention due to low student- to - teacher ratios, and a variety of drills and game are utilized in order to keep the game fresh.  Forehands, backhands, serves, volleys, spins, scoring, and strategy are covered in age - and skill-appropriate manners.  Campers should bring a racket, althought we will provide Kiddie rackets for those who do not own them.

Weekly spring clinics will be held Saturdays, Mondays and Tuesdays beginning April 25, while four-day summer camps will be held the weeks of June 22, July 6 and August 10.  Summer campers will receive a T-shirt and end-of-camp merit award.  All clinics and camps will be held at the tennis courts located behind the Jefferson Firehouse.

Boys and Girls ages 5-13

Camp will run from Monday, June 22nd to Friday, July 31st, 2009.  Our Summer Day Camp Program's daily hours will be 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 ap.m. - Monday through Friday

Location: Whitehall Elementary School

Among the various activities offered will be Arts & Crafts, daily sports activities, special guest appearances/presentations and day trips, such as movies, bowling, roller skating, the theatre (children's plays), and a trip to the Water Park.

Cost: Resident (Proof of Residency required) 1 child $200.00 - 2 children $350.00 - Family of 3 or more $500.00

Non Resident 1 child $300.00 - 2 children $500.00 - Family of 3 or more $650.00
