Illicit Discharge Reporting
Illicit Discharge Reporting
West Norriton Township is committed to protecting our local streams and waterways. An illicit discharge is any discharge into the storm sewer system that is not stormwater, such as chemicals, oils, wastewater, or other pollutants. These materials flow directly into nearby waterways without treatment and can harm the environment and public health.
Stormwater runoff in West Norriton Township flows directly into nearby streams without treatment. Reporting suspected illicit discharges—such as dry-weather flows, unusual odors, discoloration, or visible pollutants—helps the Township remain in compliance with state and federal regulations and protects water quality.
If you believe there is an environmental or public safety emergency, contact the PA DEP Emergency Response Hotline immediately. For non-emergencies, please use the reporting form below to submit your concern.

Main Street Safety Improvement
The proposed project is located in West Norriton Township, Montgomery County. The project will implement a 4-lane partial “road diet” configuration along Main Street between Egypt Road and Forest Avenue/West Airy Street. The existing four-lane undivided roadway will maintain two (2) through lanes in the westbound direction, one (1) lane eastbound, and a shared left-turn lane throughout the project limits with dedicated turn lanes at the signalized intersections.A 5-leg “hybrid roundabout” is proposed at the intersection of Main Street and Egypt Road/Jefferson Avenue/Orchard Lane, and includes a 2-lane exit for Main Street and a single-lane exit for Egypt Road. The proposed improvements include a mill and overlay of the existing pavement and re-striping for the proposed partial road diet lane configurations along approximately 5,300 feet of roadway.Temporary and permanent right-of-way acquisitions will be required in the area of the “hybrid roundabout”.The existing traffic signals at Schuylkill Avenue, Whitehall Road, and Forrest Avenue/West Airy Street will be modified, as necessary. The ADA and pedestrian facilities along the corridor will be evaluated and updated, as necessary, to meet current ADA standards. -
