Dear Residents:
As members of the West Norriton Board of Commissioners and residents of West Norriton Township, we understand how difficult the last few months have been. Not only have we been staying home to stay safe during the Coronavirus Pandemic, for more than two weeks we have also been confronted by the disturbing issues of violence and racism across our nation and here in Montgomery County.
We are deeply distressed by current affairs and wish to express to you, our constituents, that we will take all steps available to us to keep you safe. Our police force has our whole-hearted endorsement as respectful, compassionate officers who are well-trained in issues of inclusion and diversity. We cannot say as much for Montgomery County Commissioner Joe Gale. His misguided, racist remarks have no place in a civil society. On behalf of the West Norriton Community we have called for his resignation in the attached letter and passed a resolution at Tuesday night’s regular meeting of the Township Commissioners condemning him and his letter regarding racial unrest in the Philadelphia region.
