Township Ordinances Regarding Animals

Residents frequently call the Police Department with questions concerning the following township ordinances.

Dog Licenses

All dogs 3 months of age or older must be licensed. These licenses must be renewed every year and securely attached to the dog’s collar. In the event the dog becomes lost, police officers can locate the registered owner through this license number. Montgomery County dog licenses can be purchased online.

Damage Responsibility

All dogs must be under the immediate control of the owner or a responsible adult whenever off of the owner’s property. Dogs are personal property and owners are responsible for any and all damages caused by their dog while the dog is running at large.

Noise Control

No animal or bird shall make any noise continuously for a period of 10 minutes or more, regardless of the time of day or night, to the disturbance of any person.

Pet Feces Removal

Any person having control of any animal shall immediately remove any feces left by the animal from any area other than the private property of the owner.
